Where Flowers Meet Science

Ghent and the festival that happens once every four years

There is something about Ghent and flowers.

Perhaps it comes from the city’s long tradition of horticulture. Perhaps from its botanical gardens, its love of design, or from the Floraliеn – the extraordinary flower festival that
brings the city to life once every four years.

For a few days, flowers become much more than decoration. They become art, science and inspiration. Growers, florists and designers come together to explore what plants can become – and how they can change the way we experience a space.

Knowledge lies behind all this beauty. In Ghent, plants are also studied, cultivated, and explored. Nature and science are not separate worlds here – they meet in every flower.

Perhaps that is what makes Ghent so special.

It is a place where flowers are not simply admired.

They are explored, imagined and celebrated.

And once every four years, the whole city gives them the stage.
